Hancock全民超人

I know what critics have been saying about Hancock.

I know that, besides them, other people have brutally picked it apart.

My opinion differs. This film was a breath of fresh air and ended up being quite good.

Regardless of what people think,

I have a good feeling this will make at least 50 million dollars by Monday...

it's the Big Willie Weekend, after all.

Finally we get to see a superhero who doesn't care about the public at all,

except when spurred reluctantly into action.

The movie starts with a good concept and pushes the story forward without any flaws.

Even the subplot and twist eventually weaves well into the movie,

and although the mood changes abruptly halfway through,

it transitions perfectly (this is what critics are nitpicking it for).

The story also involves rude (but realistic and insanely funny) humor

nd other elements that truly represent a more realistic superhero tale.

Hancock gets blamed, hated, even billed for his damages,

but responds with indifference and foul language (which brings with it big laughs).

Will Smith is again incredible,

offering a performance that is funny, dark, triumphant,

nd caring all at the same time, which brings the movie to an end with a clean,

"that's awesome-I'd love to be able to do that" hero ending.

Jason Bateman also masters the many moods of his character and fits the PR slot perfectly.

Even Charlize Theron (despite her strange plot twist and irritating attitude throughout

(I'd use another word there, but I want this review to be clean)) is great and works well with the plot.

The visuals are also of high quality,

putting a great spin on a Superman-ish story.

Nothing looked better than the great bomb-robbery scene and Hancock's lethal disk.

Overall, Hancock is very satisfying.

Just be warned that the language (and perhaps the violence) is NOT for kids,

as it is profane often and is not held back. Still, though,

I love it, and this is a great way to kick off July.
